Zen Jesus:
A Buddhist-Christian Conversation on the Parables & Teachings of Christ
A “Wine & Wisdom” Series at Emory Presbyterian Church, Atlanta ...

Join us as we engage in a fascinating inter-spiritual adventure! The Buddhist- Christian dialogue has long been recognized as a cutting-edge source of fascinating insights. Many Christians have found deep wisdom in the

teachings of Buddhism, and leading Buddhists such as the Dalai Lama and Thich Nhat Hanh have long been inspired by the teachings of Jesus. In this series, we will examine Jesus’ message, and particularly his parables, and offer them as a remarkable meeting ground for these two great traditions to engage one another, toward the end of mutual understanding and enrichment. Whatever your background is, you will see Jesus in a whole new – and enriching – light!

Convened by the Rev. J. Thomas Buchanan, Associate Pastor of Emory Presbyterian Church, with special guest Geshe Dadul Namgyal, Senior Resident Teacher at Drepung Loseling Monastery in Atlanta, a staff translator/interpreter at the Emory-Tibet Partnership, and the auxiliary English language translator for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. For more information visit:  www.emorypresbyterian.org.

The series is FREE and open to the public. Voluntary donations accepted to help defray the costs of wine and refreshments.

This Immersion will begin on Friday with and introduction into Islam and Judaism. Following a tour of the Al Forooq Mosque with Kemal Keucu we will head to the Atlanta Masjid of Al Islam for a presentation from Imam Plemon El-Amin. Following the Jumah worship service,  we will tour Temple Sinai in Sandy Springs with Rabbi Mitch Cohen before enjoying Shabbat service with their congregation.

On Saturday participants will visit the Vedanta Center where we will hear from Brother Shankara before heading to the Riverdale Temple for an eye opening introduction into the Hindu faith with Manhar Valand.
